Extraordinary Ministers of Communion – The ordinary minister of Holy Communion is a bishop, priest or deacon. However, other members of the faithful, known as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, may be commissioned to assist with the distribution of the Sacrament as needed. Some assist at Mass and others visit the sick and homebound of the parish or parishioners in nursing facilities, the hospital, etc.
Lectors – A lector is someone who proclaims the readings during mass. By doing this you are helping people to hear the word of God, that is – Jesus. Becoming a lector is a serious decision and commitment since you are sharing your time and energy in the service of the church.
